Parametric Numerical Study of Welded Aluminium Beam-to-Column Joints

چکیده
Beam-to-column joints are one of the most common types in metal structures. In design load-bearing aluminium structures, welding, as a joining method, is often avoided because localised degradation mechanical properties heat-affected zone (HAZ). However, recent experimental studies on extent and strength HAZ show significant difference compared to very conservative rules when modern welding techniques used. Therefore, numerical study conducted this paper addresses influence behaviour welded beam-to-column joint. Parametric analyses were performed varying alloys, reduced HAZ, different definitions extent. The obtained results that highest stress concentration occurs at connection between top beam flange column flange, resulting plastic softening region. Different joint capacities observed by HAZ. A detailed overview models well moment–rotation curves some not assumed standards considered.

Neural Networks Assessment of Beam-to-Column Joints
This paper proposes the use of artificial neural networks to predict the flexural resistance and initial stiffness of beam-to-column steel joints using the back propagation supervised learning algorithm. Three types of steel beam-to-column joints were investigated: welded, endplate and bolted with top, seat and double web angles, respectively. The neural networks results proved to be consistent...
متن کاملNumerical Analysis of Cyclic Behavior of Beam-To-Column Bolted Connections in Steel Frames
This article considers the seismic behavior of beam-to-column joints in steel frames for different bolt arrangements by using of finite element modeling. As the most important beam-to-column joint type, the beam-to-column joints with end-plate is chosen for the analysis. Four different specimens have been analyzed. These models had some differences such as bolt arrangement and the presence or a...
متن کاملStrengthening of defected beam–column joints using CFRP
This paper presents an experimental study for the structural performance of reinforced concrete (RC) exterior beam-column joints rehabilitated using carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP). The present experimental program consists of testing 10 half-scale specimens divided into three groups covering three possible defects in addition to an adequately detailed control specimen. The considered de...
متن کاملSelective Upgrade of Beam-column Joints with Composites
Many RC frames built without seismic provisions between the ’50’s and ’70’s need structural upgrade in order to match the minimum requirements of new building codes. Generally, the critical region of the strengthening design is represented by the beam-column connection. The strength hierarchy governs the upgrade requiring to protect the column and the panel so that the formation of a plastic hi...
متن کاملSeismic Upgrade of Beam-Column Joints with FRP Reinforcement
Many opportunities are becoming available for using composite materials to strengthen/upgrade existing reinforced concrete (RC) structures. This paper focuses on a new technique for the seismic upgrade of RC beam-column connections in gravity load-designed (GLD) frames by the application (combined or not) of FRP rods and laminates. The FRP rods provide flexural strengthening, whereas the lay-up...
